HBOT 3D as a tool for rapid prototyping

Over the past several years fast development of CAD/CAM technology occured. Today, practically 100% of the designs are already carried out using specialized engineering software. However, in the process of 3D design engineering, prototyping is a major problem, especially in a situation where iterative designing is required and it is necessary to apply a number of modifications. Conventional methods of manufacturing prototypes with the use of CNC milling machines or craft work of individual professionals are expensive and time-consuming.

While using 3D printing technology in most cases it is possible to prepare a concept model of the whole design, check the functioning of assembled multiple items and consult the design with other members of the design team in a comfortable and understandable for others form – 3D spatial model that ‘you can take in your hand’. On the basis of these experiences it is possible to identify and implement modifications in the final design cheaply and quickly so that the functional prototype with the use of conventional processing technologies could be made ‘ready’.

Materials for 3D Printing

Wide range of materials which are ready to be used ensures that produced elements are professional which meets the highest standards and requirements. For printing test and demonstration models the best filament is PLA. It is the best for even complicated geometry representation but cannot work in high temperatures. Second, recommended material is ABS, which is best for production parts that will tested in target implementation. It is resistant to mechanical processing and operation of some diluted acids, oils and fats. If you want to build large objects with ABS we recommend using M-ABS which has a reduced material shrinkage, minimizing risk of deformation and delamination. Another one material which you can print with on HBOT 3D is HIPS which in compered to PLA is more stable (still durable) in higher temperatures and still has a very small material shrinkage allowing print bulky objects. With our printer it is possible to use many specialized materials, such as PET-G, which is plastic is characterized by low moisture absorbency and high stiffness. Worth mentioning is H-GLASS which has a very high strength which bonds layers and high transparency. Last but not least is H-WOOD, which imitates appearance of wood.
